These shortbread moulds were made as advertisements for Brown and Polson. It is transfer printed in black with: 'BROWN & POLSON'S Raising Powder Makes Shortbread Crisp and short And more easy of digestion. PAISLEY FLOUR TRADE MARK'. It is in excellent condition.  |

(3 3/8") deep. This mould has a stylised shell to the top, with alternating shells and crayfish around the sides. It is in excellent condition.  |

An earthenware mould in the shape of a rabbit. Marked 'GRIMWADES. STOKE ON TRENT. ENGLAND' in a black printed mark. There is also a raised mark on the side of the mould which reads 'S/S. BUNNY'. Date: c.1930. Size: 19.5cm. (7 3/4") long by 11.7cm. (4 5/8") wide by 10cm. (4") deep. This mould turns out the full form of a rabbit and it has good detail. It is in excellent, usable condition.
We also have a second example of this mould which is larger. It measures 22.5cm. (8 7/8") long by 12cm. (4 3/4") wide by 11cm. (4 3/8") deep. It is the same in all other aspects.  |

A heavy ironstone mould with a geometric design to the base. Marked 'WEDGWOOD & CO. LTD.' This is the mark of Wedgwood and Company of the Unicorn and Pinnox Works, Tunstall. It also has impressed numbers '6' over '04'. Date: c.1904. Size: 19cm. (7 1/2") long by 14.5cm. (5 3/4") wide by 8.5cm. (3 5/8") deep. This mould has a geometric design to the base, which looks like a ten petalled daisy, and fluted sides. It is in excellent, usable condition. |

c.1920. Size: 14.5cm. (5 3/4") long by 12.5cm. (5") wide by 11cm. (4 1/4") high. This mould is the same design as the Carlton pattern but the Carlton has the cream top whereas the Ritz has a raised centre. It was made in four sizes, varying in capasity from 1 pint to 2 1/2 pints. This mould is in
excellent condition.

A Shelley 'Armadillo' pattern mould. Marked, in dark green, 'SHELLEY' (in a shield) with 'MADE IN' above and 'ENGLAND' beneath. Date: c.1930. Size: 25.4cm. (10") long by 17.5cm. (6 7/8") wide by 11cm. (4 1/4") high. This mould turns out the full form of an armadillo. It is very crisply moulded and the design is well detailed. Unlike most Shelley moulds the design of this mould does not show fully on the outside. This design was made in three different sizes and this is the largest size of the three.Unfortunately there is a large chip to the footrim. This can be seen in the other image. Other than this the condition is good and the damage does not affect the usability of the mould.

In the base is a rabbit sitting amongst flowers, on a grassy mound. This is surrounded by a fluted border. It is in excellent condition. |

A heavy, ironstone mould with a bird in the base. This mould has an impressed mark 'BOOTHS' and also a printed mark. The printed mark is green and has the words 'BOOTHS. ROYAL SEMI PORCELAIN. STAFFORDSHIRE' within an oval, with a crown above and 'ENGLAND' below. There is also an impressed '9' and a letter 'S'. Date: c.1900. Size: 19cm. (7 1/2") long by 16cm. (6 1/4") wide by 11.5cm. (4 1/2") deep. This piece is very heavily potted in ironstone. It has a bird, possibly a dove, on a nest, in the base. This sits on top of fluted sides. It is in very good, usable condition but there is a small piece of dark coloured kiln grit within the mould. This is visible in the image. |

A large eathenware mould with a rose design to the base. Marked: 'BRISTOL 3-23'. This is the mark of Pountney & Co. of Bristol Victoria Pottery, Temple Backs, Bristol, who have potted there since 1849. The '3-23' in the mark tells us that it was made in March 1923. Size: 19cm. (7 1/2") long by 14.5cm. (5 3/4") wide by 11cm. (4 1/4") deep. This mould has a rose in the base and it has a border which looks like pointed top fence posts. There is very slight staining to a couple of high points within the mould but other than this it is in good, usable condition. |
