A small moulded black basalt jug. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 13cm. (5 1/8") long from the tip of the spout to the outer edge of the handle by 7.3cm. (2 7/8") high. This piece is very well moulded with a design which looks something like Egyptian hyraglyphics. Above this is a border of flowers. The two designs seem totally unrelated. It is in excellent condition. £68. U.S.A.

An early 19th century, moulded black basalt teapot. Unmarked. Date: c.1810. Size: 17cm. (6 3/4") high by 23.5cm. (9 1/4") long from the tip of the spout to the outer edge of the handle by 11.5cm. (4 1/2") wide. This piece is well moulded. The body of the teapot has four vertical columns. To the top and the bottom are borders of flowers and acanthus leaves. The lid is moulded with a fleur-de-lys finial. There is a piece missing from the rim, by the hinge of the lid, which is about 1cm square. There is also very minor chipping to the end of the spout.

A moulded creamware plate with a coloured border. Unmarked. Date: c.1780. Size: 24cm. (9 1/2") diameter. This plate has a beaded rim and small moulded flowers and leaves. These are coloured in green and brown. There is a small chip to the footrim but there is also some restoration to the rim. This does not extend beyond the beaded rim and was possibly only done to cover some flaking to the glaze on the rim. £59. U.S.A.

A moulded creamware plate with a pierced border. Unmarked. Date: c.1780. Size: 21.5cm. (8 1/2") diameter. This plate has a beaded rim and an elaborately pierced border. It is very finely potted and the piercing is very crisp. This piece is in excellent condition. £168.  U.S.A.

The border to this plate has six small pierced sections which are divided by moulded garlands. It is very finely potted and the piercing is crisp. A large creamware mug with brown banded decoration. Unmarked. Date: c.1800. Size: 15cm. (6") high by 10cm. (4") diameter. This is a quart size mug. The decoration is quite simple. It has engine turned bands which are coloured in a brown glaze. There is a small chip on the foot of the mug and there are three cracks in the rim. Each crack is about 5cm. (2") long.

A late18th century Dutch delft plate. Unmarked. Date: c.1780. Size: 23cm. (9") diameter. This plate is made from a tin glazed earthenware with a rich pale blue glaze. It has polychrome decoration, of stylised flowers, in iron red, blue and yellow. It is in very good condition, with only minor fritting to the rim, which is due to the soft nature of the glaze. £115 U.S.A.

An 18th century creamware plate with Whieldon glazes. Unmarked. Date: c.1750. Size: 23cm. (9") diameter. This plate has a finely moulded basket weave border and it is lightly potted. The plate is covered in Whieldon glazes in greys, brown, green, ochre and blue. There is one small chip to the rim of the plate but other than this it is in very good condition.

A pair of green, majolica glazed plates. Both are marked: 'Spode'. There is also an impressed 'R' to one of them. Date: c.1820. Size: 21.5cm. (8 1/2") diameter. These plates are both moulded, with leaves, to the border. The moulding is very good quality, as one would expect of pieces from this period. They are both in excellent condition. £69.

This tile is decorated, with a Shakesperian scene, in a brown transfer print on buff coloured glaze. It shows 'KING LEAR' Act V Scene III. The design is by Moyr Smith and there is a signature in the left hand side of the scene. There is a chip on the reverse of the tile but, other than this, it is in very good condition. £37. U.S.A.

This tile is decorated, with a Shakesperian, scene in a brown transfer print on buff coloured glaze. It shows a 'WINTER'S TALE' Act V Scene III. A very fine quality, early 19th century, pearlware childs' plate. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 18.5cm. (7 1/4") diameter. The border of this plate is moulded with flowers, which are coloured in bright enamels. To the centre it is painted, in the same colours, with a bird. The plate is lightly potted and the decoration is still very vibrant. It is in excellent condition. £175. Nil.

A Victorian treacle glazed flask. Unmarked. Date: c1860. Size: 24cm. (9 1/2") high. This flask is moulded in the shape of Toby Fillpot sitting on a barrel. It is reasonably well moulded but the thick treacle glaze fills up much of the detail. It is in very good condition and there is just one small patch on Tobys' elbow where the glaze has not covered fully. £78. U.S.A.

A classical shaped drabware urn. Unmarked. Date: c.1830. Size: 20cm. (8") high. This piece is moulded in a drab coloured stoneware and has very finely moulded lions head handles to the sides. Originally it would have had a lid but this is now, unfortunately, missing. It is in excellent condition.

A Victorian childs' plate with a moulded border and a brown transfer print. Unmarked. Date: c.1850. Size: 18.5cm. (7 1/4") diameter. This piece has an Alphabet moulded border. The central print shows a family of pigs dressed in human clothing. This is probably taken from a nursery rhyme or book of the time. It is in excellent condition.

A blue and white transfer printed platter. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 48cm. (18 7/8") long by 40cm. (15 3/4") wide. This piece is printed with an all over transfer print and to the centre is a winged horse on a crown. This may be a heraldic coat of arms. The print is a good quality and the platter is in excellent condition.

A Masons' ironstone jug. Marked, in black print, 'MASON'S' above a crown with 'PATENT IRONSTON CHINA' in a ribbon beneath. Date: c.1840. Size: 16.5cm. (6 1/2") high to the front of the spout. This piece is decorated, with a chinoiserie pattern, in a brown transfer print which is over coloured with polychrome enamels. It has a twig shaped handle in green enamel. There is very slight flaking to the green enamel and there is a tiny chip on the rim.

A Masons' ironstone jug. Marked, in blue print, 'MASON'S' above a crown with 'PATENT IRONSTON CHINA' in a ribbon beneath. Date: c.1830. Size: 16.5cm. (6 1/2") high to the front of the spout. This piece is decorated, with a pattern known as the 'Japan' pattern, in the typical Imari colours of blue and iron red. It has a twig shaped handle in green enamel. There is very slight flaking to the green enamel on the handle but other than this it is in very good condition.

A creamware, two handled comport with enamel decoration. Unmarked. Date: c.1790. Size: 28.5cm. (11 1/4") long by 20.5cm. (8 1/8") wide by 8.5cm. (3 3/8") high. This piece is finely potted and it has a rich yellowy green glaze. It has entwined rope handles with flower terminals and the border design is hand painted in brown enamels. There are a couple of surface marks where something has touched the glaze in the kiln, during manufacture, but other than this it is in excellent condition.

A green majolica glazed leaf plate. Marked only with an impressed number '12'. Date: c.1870. Size: 22.7 cm. (9") diameter. This plate is moulded with a geranium flower to the centre, with geranium leaves around it. It is a well moulded design and the plate is quite lightly potted.

A Victorian childs' plate with a moulded border. Unmarked except for what looks like an impressed number '11'. Date: c.1840. Size: 15cm. (6") diameter. This piece has a border moulded with flowers. To the centre is a brown transfer print and the verse:
'A WALK BEFORE BREAKFAST
The sun is up we'll brush the dew
To hear the huntsman's gay halloo.'
The print is coloured in green, yellow, orange and blue enamels and the piece is in excellent condition.

An early 19th century childs' plate with a very unusual moulded border. Unmarked. Date: c.1830. Size: 17.2cm. (6 3/4") diameter. The border of this plate is moulded with the bust of a man and a woman to either side of a crown. The crown is coloured in pink lustre and the figures are enamelled. To the centre of the plate is a scene titled 'MISS IN A PET', a pet being a temper. Unfortunately there is some restoration to the rim of the plate.

An early 19th century pearlware childs' plate. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 17.2cm. (6 3/4") diameter. This plate has a fine blue transfer print showing a child praying at its bedside, with a woman sitting alongside. The verse reads:
"Who watch'd my paths by night and day,
Lest harm should lead my mind astray
And bade me for my parents pray. My Governess".
The border is finely moulded with flowers and leaves and the piece is in excellent condition.

A good quality, early 19th century pearlware childs' plate. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 17.5cm. (7") diameter. This plate has a central brown transfer print which shows a young boy and girl dressing up. It is titled 'MY GRANDFATHERS HAT & WIG'. The transfer print is very fine and detailed. The border is moulded with animals and classical designs which are highlighted in Pratt colours, ochre, blue, brown and green. It is in excellent condition.

It is also marked with a registered design kite mark which states the date of registration of the design to be 1848. Date: c.1850. Size: 26.3cm. (10 3/8") diameter by 4.5cm. (1 3/4") deep. This piece is transfer printed in black with an oriental design which is then over painted in multi coloured enamels. It is in excellent condition.

An unusual feather edged pearlware soup ladle. Unmarked. Date: c.1790. Size: diameter of bowl 10cm. (4"), total length of ladle and handle 33cm. (13"). This piece has an interesting curved handle with a shaped end. Both the handle and the outside of the bowl of the ladle are decorated with blue enamelled feathering. There are three feint hairlines in the bowl of the ladle and there is wear to the glaze on the high point on the handle. £78.

A brown glazed earthenware jug with yellow transfer print. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 14.5cm. (5 3/4") high. This type of pottery is often attributed to the Portobello pottery in Scotland but this piece is more like that produced by the Scott Brothers of Southwick pottery, Sunderland. The overall yellow transfer is typical of their style but the design is very unusual. The piece is in excellent condition.

A small moulded prattware perfume bottle. Unmarked. Date: c.1790. The sides are moulded with different scenes of cherubs at play. The mouldings are picked out in typical pratt colours of green, blue and ochre. This is a very unusual item and it is in excellent condition. There are two marks, one on the base and one on the rim, which are the result of it touching against something in the kiln.

An unusual pottery plaque with spongeware decoration. Unmarked. Date: c.1850. Size: 21.5cm. (8 1/2") diameter. This style of decoration is much more commonly found on utility items. The centre of the plaque has a painted floral design and this is within a sponged border. It is in excellent condition.
