An uncommonly small pearlware jug with silver resist lustre decoration. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 9cm. (3 1/2") high. This jug is decorated, with two bands of stylised flowers and foliage, in silver resist lustre. It is unusual to find a silver lustre jug in such a small size. This one has slight rubbing to the rim and a small firing crack on the handle but other than this it is in very good condition. £145. U.S.A.

An unusual shaped, pearlware jug with silver lustre decoration. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 11.5cm. (4 1/2") high by only 8.2cm. (3 1/4") diameter at its widest point. This jug is decorated, with floral designs, in silver resist lustre. It has a brown enamel border to the rim. There has been slight restoration to this piece. There is a small area of old restoration to the rim and also a small restored chip to the spout. This restoration is now yellowing. The lustre is still in very good, bright condition. £115.  U.S.A.

This mug has a simple foliate design around the centre, in silver resist lustre. There is a chip to the rim of the mug and there is also slight rubbing to the lustre on the rim. A good copper lustre jug with a clock face decoration. Unmarked. Date: c.1850. Size: 19.7cm. (7 3/4") high. This moulded jug has circular panels to each side. The one has a puce transfer of a deer in a landscape, with a green foliate border, and the other has a puce transfer of a clock face showing the time at twenty past eight. This piece is in excellent condition.

A very unusual, moulded pearlware jug with silver lustre decoration. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: 13.3cm. (5 1/4") high. This jug is moulded with two different heads, one to either side. These are surrounded by ornate borders. The moulded decoration is coloured in red, green, black and flesh coloured enamels and silver lustre. The jug is well potted and the moulding is well detailed. There is a large chip on the rim and a small one at the base of the handle. There is also slight rubbing to the rim. Other than this it is in very good condition.

A fine quality pink lustre jug with enamel decoration. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size:15cm. (6") high. This jug is very finely potted in pearlware. The lower section of the jug is decorated with a wide band of stylised fruits in pink resist lustre. The fruits are highlighted in green and yellow enamels. Above this is a wide band of blue enamel and the jug also has pink lustre borders and stripes to the handle. It is in excellent condition. £225. Nil

Two Welsh gaudy lustre cups and saucers. Unmarked. Date: c.1840. Size: 14.5cm. (5 3/4") diameter of saucers by 6.7cm. (2 5/8") total height when the cups and saucers are together. These cups and saucers are decorated, in the typical gaudy Welsh palette of iron red, blue and green with copper lustre highlights. The pattern is known by two different names. These are the Tricorn or the Powys pattern.
We have 3 of these in stock. One cup has very slight staining, but other than this they are all in very good condition.

This jug is decorated, in the typical gaudy Welsh palette of iron red, blue and green with copper lustre highlights. The pattern is known by two different names. These are the Tricorn or the Powys pattern. Unfortunately there is a feint hairline crack in the rim of this bowl which is about 2.5cm. (1") long.

A pair of small, Welsh gaudy lustre plates. Marked only with a pattern number '822', in red script, on the reverse. Date: c.1850. Size: 14cm. (5 1/2") diameter. Plates of such a small size were probably from a childs' teaset. The design, which is painted in the typical gaudy Welsh palette, is unusual and I cannot find it illustarted in the book on Gaudy Welsh and I do not recall having seen it before. Both of the plates are in very good condition but there is a small firing fault on the front of one, where something has touched it in the firing.

This piece has and engine turned design to the lower section above which are two bands of pink resist, floral decoration. The cup is well potted and the decoration is good quality. (3 1/2") high, the bowl is 6cm. (2 3/8") high by 10cm. (4") diameter and the cups and saucers are 5cm. (2") high by 11cm. (4 3/8") diameter. Each piece is decorated with a floral design in blue, red and green enamels and pink lustre. All of the pieces are in very good condition except for the sucrier which has a tiny chip to the rim and restoration to the lid. £135.  U.S.A.

A small pearlware teabowl and saucer with a black transfer print and pink lustre borders. Unmarked. Date: c.1820. Size: Teabowl: 5.8cm. (2 1/4") diameter by 3.1cm. (1 1/4") high. Saucer: 9.3cm. (3 5/8") diameter by 2.5cm. (1") deep. The total height when the cup and saucer are together is 4cm. (1 1/2"). Both the cup and saucer are transfer printed with an Adam Buck style print showing a woman and child. The transfer is fine and the pieces are well potted. Both pieces are in very good condition.

This is then highlighted in pink lustre. This type of design is quite common in other colours but it is not common with this combination of colours. The plate is possibly from a childs' service. Both the cup and saucer are well decorated, with different birds in trees, in various shades of pink lustre. They are from a tea service and every piece was decorated with a slightly different design. Both cup and saucer are in excellent condition and the lustre is still bright. £68. U.S.A.

A Sunderland pink lustre mug. Unmarked. Date: c.1830. Size: 10cm. (4") high by 10.5cm. (4 1/8") diameter. This mug is decorated in the typical Sunderland stlye. To one side there is a black transfer print of the 'SAILORS FAIRWELL' and to the other side is a verse. The verse reads:
'The sailor lost in storm'y seas,
Though far his bark may roam,
Still hears a voice in every breeze,
That wakens thoughts of home;
He thinks upon his distant friends,
His wife, his humble cot;
And from his inmost heart ascends
The prayer- Forget me not.'
Both transfers are coloured in bright enamels and pink lustre and there are pink lustre borders. It is in excellent condition.

This type of silver lustre became very popular in the Victorian era, to imitate silver. It is in good condition but there is slight surface scratching and wear to the glaze. £28. U.S.A.

A teapot and cover decorated, in various shades of pink lustre, with a landscape. Unmarked. Date: c.1835. Size: 28cm. (11") from the outer edge of the handle to the tip of the spout by 18cm. (7") high. This piece is decorated in the same way as pieces which have the pink lustre house pattern, but this design is quite unusual in that there is no house or building in the landscape. There are some chips to the lid, one on the top and three to the underside, and there are also four small chips to the inner rim of the teapot. This teapot is an unusual moulded shape with four feet and a flower finial to the lid.

A moulded pearlware mug with pink lustre and enamel decoration. Unmarked, but possibly by Enoch Wood. Date: c.1820. Size: 9cm. (3 1/2") high by 10cm. (4") diameter of mug. This piece is very crisply moulded with cherubs and chariots to either side and there is an ornate classical urn between them. The moulded subjects are coloured in various shades of pink lustre and blue, green, yellow, red, brown and flesh coloured enamels. There are a couple of very small stains to the interior but other than this it is in excellent condition.

An early Victorian copper lustre jug with transfer printed scenes. Unmarked. Date: c.1840. Size: 15cm. (6") high. This piece has transfer printed scenes to either side which show a family at the cottage door. The print is over coloured in yellow, green, blue and red enamels. To the rim is a stylised floral band in coloured enamels. The jug is in perfect condition but it has been slightly misfired. This has resulted in very fine kiln grit in the copper lustre glaze which has left a roughness to the pot. £89.

These are bordered with pink lustre lines. There is a star crack to the base, which does not show through on the inside, and there are two small hairline cracks in the rim. There is also slight rubbing to some of the pink lustre.

This piece is hand painted with a foliate design in green, red and pink enamels and pink lustre. There is a small chip to the lid and a couple of small chips under the rim to the inside of the pot. There is also slight wear to the green enamel on the lid.

A pink lustre, house pattern, dinner plate. Marked with an impressed diamond shape which is probably the mark of the Swansea factory. Date: c.1820. Size: 25cm. (10") diameter. This plate is decorated, in shades of pink lustre, with a version of the house pattern. It is unusual to find dinner wares in this type of pattern. It has a 5cm. (2") hairline crack running in from the rim.

A copper lustre jug. Unmarked. Date c.1860. Size: 17cm. (6 3/4") high. It is enameled with a foliate design in blue, green and yellow. The jug is of a moulded form with an unusual shaped handle. The condition is good condition with only very minor wear to the lustre .

A large, moulded copper lustre jug. Unmarked. Date: c.1860. Size: 18cm. (7") high. It is enamelled with flowers and foliage in pinky white, green and yellow under a band of unusual scroll moulding. This piece is in very good condition with only very minor wear to the lustre and enamels.

A large coffee pot and lid. Marked: 'WEDGEWOOD'. This mark is atributed to William Smith who was a potter at Stafford Pottery, Stockton-on-Tees, Yorkshire, from 1825 to 1855. Date: c.1835. Size: 26cm. (10 1/4") high by 21cm. (8 1/4") from the tip of the spout to the extreme of the handle. This piece is very well potted and decorated with a black transfer of scrolls and flora, some parts over enamelled in green and some being coloured with pink lustre. There are also lustre bands which highlight foot and top rims plus the wonderful handle terminals of the coffee pot. There is a very small amount of chipping to the end of the spout, a chip to the inner rim where the lid has been put down too hard (not visible when the lid is in place) and a small chip under the foot.

A copper lustre bowl with blue and ochre bands onto which is applied sprigged decoration depicting Venus standing in a sea shell that is drawn along by Dolphins, with Cupid following behind. Unmarked. Date: c.1860. Size: 13.6cm. (5 3/8") diameter by 8.2cm. (3 1/4") high. This piece is in perfect condition.

A Victorian copper and pink lustre enamelled mug. Unmarked. Date: c.1860. Size: 7.6cm. (3") high. It is moulded with horizontal bands to the body and has enamelled flowers, in blue, yellow and green beneath the top rim. This piece is in excellent condition.
