Code: G19881
A nineteenth century, earthenware mould with a lion to the base. This is marked ‘DAVENPORT’ around an anchor and to either side of the anchor are the numbers ‘5’ and ‘6’;. This dates the mould to 1856. There is also an impressed number ’19’ which could be a batch number as it does not relate to the size. This is a small example for this design. The lion is very well moulded and has an almost human face. It is surrounded with a border of leaves.
