A Shelley pottery, Cecil pattern jelly mould. This is marked “Shelley”, in green transfer print within a shield, above “ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1920. The majority of Shelley’s main range of geometric design jelly moulds were named after London hotels and the Cecil was a grand hotel between the Embankment and the Strand which was built in 1896 and demolished in 1930. Shelley made this design in two different sizes with this being the larger. It is a good looking shape from the exterior and it also turns out well. It is in excellent condition.
