I've been working hard on preparing this during the last few weeks in this glorious sunshine. Wouldn't it have been nice to simply be relaxing with an ice cream. 
However, in the Victorian world ice cream was hardly relaxing, especially for the staff in the stately homes and well to do houses. Banquets involving amazing displays of moulded ice creams could take the kitchen staff ages to bring to fruition.
Why not have a go at moulding some ice cream for yourself. Ice cream making has really seen a revival over the last number of years and there are  food historians who run courses and displays teaching the art of moulding food.
Pewter moulds are by far the best type of mould to use for ice cream. Over the next few weeks I hope to bring you some interesting recipes and tips on how to use the moulds.
