An early Victorian breadboard with a good, rich colour and patination. This board is carved in beechwood and it dates from c.1870. It is carved with the word 'Bread' but the font is quite elaborate and it is very well carved. The remainder of the border is chip carved with a simple, stylised leaf design. There is a short crack, and also three burn marks, to the reverse of the board but other than that it is in very good condition.
