Sycamore breadboard c.1910

Sycamore breadboard c.1910

Code: G19942

SOLD

An early 20th century, sycamore breadboard carved with “Bread”. Although this is one of the more standard designs carved on breadboards, with the flower to the base and long, stylised leaves, this is a very good example. The carving is deep and it is still in remarkably good condition, with very little wear. The wood has quite a pale patina. This is very similar to the 1920’s example that we have but there are slight differences in the size of the leaves, the script and the profile of the board.

Dimensions: Diameter 30.5cm. Depth 2cm.

Condition: Very good. No splits or cracks, just slight staining to the centre of the board.

English: Date: c.1910.
