Early 19th c. brass mortar and pestle

A late 18th/ early 19th century, brass pestle and mortar. This is heavily cast and it dates from c.1800. The mortar measures 14.5cm. diameter at the rim by  9.6cm. high and the pestle is 21.8cm. long. It would have been used in either an apothecary or a kitchen. It is an attractive shape, with a wide, flared rim and horizontal banded decoration. It is in excellent condition.
