A miniature, 19th century, brass pestle and mortar. This mortar is only 5.5cm. diameter, by 6.4cm wide across the handles, and 5.1cm. high and the pestle is 9.8cm. long. It is unusual to find such a small example and this would have been used in either an apothecary or a kitchen. It dates from c.1880.
