A good quality, Victorian, brass and cast iron crimping iron dating from c.1880. This type of iron was used for putting the small pleats into collars and cuffs. It would, originally, have had steel rods which went into the open ends of the rollers. These were heated in the fire and then placed into the rollers in order to heat them. This is a good looking, and very decorative piece and it is in excellent condition.
