A Victorian, carved wooden breadboard dating from the latter quarter of the 19th century. This board is carved, in beechwood, with a border of leaves, barley, three small flowers and the words 'Want not'. Many bread boards of this period were carved with mottos. The carving was originally quite detailed but it is now showing signs of wear. The board has an attractive, pale patina and the grain in the wood is interesting. It is in very good condition, with just the usual scratch marks to the centre from use.
