A nineteenth century steel bread knife with a carved wooden handle. The sycamore handle is nicely carved with wheat and the steel blade is engraved “Bread Knife” in an attractive script. This dates from c.1880. There is a split in the handle which possible happened during the manufacture as a steel band has been added at the top of the wooden handle to hold it together.
