A nice quality, steel bread knife with a carved wooden handle. The sycamore handle is very well carved with stylised leaves against a stipple background and the steel blade is engraved “Allinson”. This dates from c.1900. Dr Allinson opened his first mill in London in 1892 and was the first to promote wholemeal flour as a much healthier option. The knife is in excellent condition.
