A good quality, Victorian bread knife with an exceptionally wide, carved wooden handle. The steel blade is marked “ E.WRIGHT 59 WYCH ST. STRAND LONDON MADE” and it dates from c.1890. It is also stamped with the words “BREAD KNIFE” above a wheatsheaf. The handle is well carved, in sycamore, with a corn on the cob and this was obviously carved for someone with a large hand.
It is in good condition with just slight pitting to the blade from use.
