A good quality, Victorian bread knife with a well carved, beechwood handle. The blade is engraved “Bread Knife” within an elaborate cartouche, but there is no manufacturers mark. It dates from c.1870. The handle is well carved, with wheat, and the word “BREAD” on a stipple background. There is very slight pitting to the blade, from use, and a small burn mark to the handle, by the collar. Otherwise it is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Length 31cm. Width of blade 2.9cm. Diameter of handle 3cm.
