A well carved, Victorian bread platter dating from c.1880. This is a platter for serving bread rather than the more usual boards for cutting, as the centre of the piece is dished so it would be difficult to cut on it.  The border is deeply carved with stylised ears of wheat against a stippled background. A dark stain has been applied to the  platter. This is more obvious on the reverse as it has now worn from the face. It is an attractive piece and it is in very good condition. .
