An interesting, nineteenth century, beechwood breadboard with a pie crust rim. The border is carved with the word “BREAD” and there are very simple, stylised, chip carved leaves. To the rim is a carved, pie crust edge. There is scratching to both the face and the reverse of the board, from use, and there is a hole in the border. This is possibly from where a knot in the wood has shrunk over the years and has dislodged. The board has a rich, honey coloured patina and it dates from c.1890.
