A lovely quality, Victorian bread knife with a carved sycamore handle. The steel blade is engraved with the makers mark “CHRISTOPHER JOHNSON & Co.” but this engraving is very worn and, other than the name, is not discernible. The sycamore handle is very well carved in the shape of a corn on the cob. The carving is very naturalistic and the piece is in excellent condition. It dates from c.1880.
Dimensions: Length 35.3cm. Diameter of handle 2.8cm. Width of blade 3.3cm.
