A Victorian bread knife with a deeply carved, beechwood handle. This had a manufacturers mark stamped in the blade but it is now worn, from use, so all that can be made out is the initial J and the start of Sheffield. It dates from c.1870. The handle is well carved, with wheat, and this is also worn, adding character to the piece. There is pitting to the blade, again from use, but other than wear the knife is in good condition.
Dimensions: Length 33.5cm. Width of blade 3cm. Diameter of handle 2.7cm.
