A Victorian steel bread knife with an interesting, carved sycamore handle. The blade is engraved with “HUNTER & SON SHEFFIELD” in an oval cartouche, around “BREAD KNIFE”. To the side of this is an image of two people harvesting grain but all of this is now quite worn from use. The handle has a delightful pale patina and is deeply carved with a stylised leaf with a scroll to the end. There was a crack in the handle, which has now been filled with wax, and the collar, which joins the blade to the handle, has a slight dent.
