A super quality, large, 19th century, sycamore breadboard. This is beautifully carved with a border of wheat and barley tied with ribbons. The carving is deep, and very well detailed, and the board has a lovely, pale patina. It is English and dates from c.1870. The board has seen a lot of use and as a result the centre is now quite dished. To the reverse someone had fitted four small feet but these have now been removed and the holes have been filled. There are a number of worm holes to both the face and the reverse of the board but they have been treated so this will not spread.
