Large, Turned Dairy Bowl

Large, Turned Dairy Bowl

Code: J22065

SOLD

A large, turned wooden dairy bowl. Wooden bowls of this open form were used in the dairies for working the butter. English examples were usually turned from sycamore but this is turned from beechwood. It is probably French and dates from c.1860. There is some staining to the wood and there is marking to the base of the bowl from use and wear. Otherwise it is in really good condition with no splitting to the wood.

Dimensions: Diameter 38cm. Height 9cm.
