A nineteenth century, sycamore breadboard with a lovely, pale patina. This has a border carved with the word “Bread” and long leaves. The carving is now very well worn from use. Often breadboards were turned over and used on the reverse, so as not to affect the design too much and this has cut marks to both the face and the reverse, showing extensive use. It dates from c.1880 and it is in good condition, with no splits.
