A Victorian, carved sycamore breadboard. The border to this board is carved with ivy leaves, flowers and bulrushes. This is quite an unusual design and originally the carving would have been very deep. It is now beautifully worn with age and use and the board has considerable character. There are a couple of wood worm holes to both the face and the reverse of the board, which have been treated, and there are two large burn marks to the reverse, from an electric hob. This can all be seen in the images. Otherwise it is in good condition and the wood has a lovely, pale patina.
