A lovely quality, Victorian beechwood breadboard. This is very well carved with leaves and wheat. The carving is deep and has good detail and the board dates from c.1860. There is wear to the carving, consistent with age and use, and this gives the board terrific character. The wood has a beautiful, rich, honey coloured patina. There are two wood worm holes to the face of the board and there is the usual scratching to both the face and the reverse, again consistent with use.
