An early 19th century child’s plate with black transfer print and enamel decoration in Pratt colours. This is a super quality child’s plate and it dates from c.1820. The central print shows a boy being given a watch by his grandfather. The verse reads:
“THE NEW WATCH
Who when I could both read and spell
And in my writing got on well.
Bought me a watch the time to tell.
The border is moulded flowers and foliage and the moulding is highlighted in yellow, ochre, blue and green.
It is in excellent condition.
