A small, 19th century, French hanging shelf made to simulate bamboo. This was a very popular style throughout the 19th century with wood being turned to look like bamboo. This shelf unit dates from c.1890. The shelves are made from pine, the sides are turned and there are small brass feet to the base and acorn shaped brass finials to the top. There are two splits in the top shelf, probably where the joints have been overtightened in the past, but these have now been repaired. Otherwise it is in good condition.
