A 19th century wooden tool. When I bought this item I had no idea of its use but since putting it onto the Hoarde I have been reliably informed that it is a willow-splitter. It was used to split branches that where too thick for making baskets or it was also used in vineyards. It is nicely turned and the wood has a beautiful patina. There is slight splitting to the wood, on the rounded end, but this just adds to the character of the piece.
