A nineteenth century, cast steel, bell shaped herb or vegetable chopper. This is stamped, in the steel blade, “PEROUSSET”. Perousset is a French name and would probably be the name of the foundry although I cannot find any reference to a foundry with this name. The handle is turned from a dark hardwood and this is attached by brass fittings.
French. Date c.1860.
There is pitting to the blade, commensurate with age and use, and there is a crack in the wooden handle.
Dimensions: Height 26cm. Width 11.5cm. Diameter of handle 3.7cm.
