Fox Cleaver with Wooden Handle

Fox Cleaver with Wooden Handle

Code: J21970

SOLD

A nineteenth century, steel ice or sugar cleaver in the shape of a fox. This is quite naively shaped and the fox is amusing and quite badly proportioned. The simple wooden handle, which is also crudely carved, is attached by copper rivets. There is pitting to the blade but otherwise it is in good condition. It dates from c.1900.

Dimensions: Length 25.5cm. Height 14.3cm. Thickness of handle 2.5cm.
