An unusual, steel pie cutter or food chopper. This could simply be a herb or vegetable chopper but there were also items shaped like this which were used to divide pies into portions before cutting. This is marked, in the casting on the handle, “N.R.S. & Co. GROTTON N.Y.” and to the opposite side “PATD. MAY 2 93 No. 40” It is American and it dates from c.1900. The handle was originally painted black and there is now some wear to the paint, and there is slight pitting to the steel blade.
