A lovely quality, 19th century bread knife with a carved wooden handle. This is marked, on the blade, “WADE WINGFIELD & ROWBOTHAM SHEFFIELD” alongside a crown and a harp. It is also engraved “Bread Knife” in an ornate script. It dates from c.1870. The sycamore handle is beautifully carved with ivy leaves and wheat on a stipple background and the wood has a lovely, honey coloured patina. It is in excellent condition, with just a little wear from use, which gives it character.
