A very unusual, 19th century, French copper measure for liquids. This piece is bucket shaped, with copper handles to either side and a pouring spout. Running down the back, to the inside, is a copper strap and this is marked with measurements which I believe to be in litres, although we haven't put it to the test. It is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper, it has castellated seams and it dates from c.1860. We have never seen a piece quite like this before and it is in excellent condition.
