English copper ladle

Code: F19117

SOLD

A 19th century, English copper ladle with a long, steel handle. This is stamped, to the side, 'ADAMS & SON  26 BURY ST. LONDON S.W.' and it dates from c.1860. It is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper and it has a castellated seam around the base and up the side. The steel handle has a simple, rustic appeal. The side of the ladle is also engraved with the initials 'A.M.H' and these would have been the initials of one of the previous owners of the piece. There is very minor pitting to the copper, mainly on the base, but otherwise it is in very good condition. The tinning, to the interior, is worn.

The bowl of the ladle is 10.5cm. diameter by 8cm. deep and the overall length, including the handle is 50.5cm.
