An early, 19th century, French copper chocolate pot complete with a turned wooden stirrer. This is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper, it has castellated seams and it dates from c.1830. It has a simple, strap form, wrought iron handle and was probably blacksmith made. The stirrer is elegantly turned from fruitwood. Both the pot and stirrer are in very good condition. There is just slight pitting to the steel handle, from use, and the tinning, to the interior, is worn.
Dimensions: Height of pot 14.5cm. Width including handle 25.4cm. Diameter 9.3cm. Length of stirrer 28.5cm.
