A large, French copper scoop. This is stamped, on the handle, “TAFFOUREAU AINE PARIS 12 R. BOUCHARDON”. I can find no trace of this company, and the old premises is obviously long gone as the address is now a fairly modern block of flats. It is probably the mark of the retailers and the piece dates from the late 19th century. Made from a heavy gauge of copper, the design is fairly rustic and it could have been made as a grain scoop.
French copper. Date c.1880
Condition: Very slight pitting to the copper from use. Otherwise the condition is very good.
Dimensions: Length 46.5cm. Diameter 16cm. Depth of scoop 7cm.
