French Copper Sieve

French Copper Sieve

Code: J21629

SOLD

A nineteenth century, French copper sieve or colander. This is made from a substantial gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. It has a wired rim and a large, brass ring is attached so that it can hang when not in use. It is pierced with circular holes in ever decreasing circles. Originally it was tinned all over but the tinning has been removed from the exterior to reveal the copper and the tinning to the interior has virtually worn away. There is very slight denting to the copper, from use, but otherwise it is in good condition.

Dimensions: Diameter 35.5cm. Depth 8.8cm.
