An interesting copper wine or champagne cooler. This piece is marked, to the base, ‘Wilh Tuch’. The only reference that I can find to this name was a German plumber who had a business in Leipzig at the start of the 20th century, from 1913 until 1921. This would certainly fit with the period of the piece and, as a plumber, he would be used to working with copper. It is decorated with grapes and vines on a planished background. The brass handles are shaped as branches and the style is reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts movement. It is in excellent condition and it is a very decorative item as well as being functional.
