A large, 19th century, French copper skimmer. This type of skimmer was often used for skimming preserves but they were also for general kitchen use. This is made from a very heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1870. It has a turned end, so that it can hang, and this resembles the end of a shepherd’s crook. It is in excellent condition.
In the last image this can be seen with a selection of the other skimmers on our website.
