A huge, and very interesting, French copper measure. This has the measures stamped on the inside of the piece, ranging from 5 up to 25. This was possibly a measure for liquids, being in litres, although it hasn’t been tested. It is made from an exceptionally heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1860. It has a rolled rim and foot, castellated seams, and very simple form, brass handles. It is in very good condition and is now a very good, decorative piece of copper which is large enough to be used as a log bin.
Dimensions: Diameter 40.5cm. Width across the handles 52cm. Depth 24.5cm. Overall height including the handles 28.2cm.
