An interesting, 19th century, French copper planter. This is made from a very heavy gauge of copper and the copper has a planished finish. It is well made, with castellated seams, and there are two heavy, folding loop handles to either end. This was possibly blacksmith made, as we have not seen this shape before, and it was probably made for a specific place and purpose. It dates from c.1860 and is in excellent condition. The interior is worn, as one would expect, from use.
