Scottish, Thistle Shape, Copper Measure

Scottish, Thistle Shape, Copper Measure

Code: K22862

An unusual, 19th century, Scottish copper measure or tankard in the shape of a thistle. This is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1880. To the rim it is stamped “PINT” and there are two Victorian assay marks, both to the rim, which have “VR” and “!7” along with a crown. It is in excellent condition but the tinning, to the interior, is worn so you wouldn’t want to drink from it any more.

Dimensions: Height 14.8cm. Width 16cm. Diameter 9.8cm.
