A small, 19th century, French copper skimmer. This type of skimmer was often used for skimming preserves but they were also for general kitchen use. This is small example, but it is made from a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. It has a turned end, so that it can hang, and this resembles the end of a shepherd’s crook. It is in excellent condition.
