A small, French copper stockpot with a steel, swing handle. This type of stockpot was made for use over an open fire, where it would have hung from a tripod. This one is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. It dates from c.1860. It has interestingly shaped fittings to the handles and these are also made from copper. It is in very good condition, with just a little denting to the base, from use. The tinning, to the interior, is worn so it could no longer be used for cooking.
