Small, hanging stockpot

Code: F19440

SOLD

A small, decorative, 19th century, French copper stockpot. This is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1840. It has nicely castellated seams around the base and up the side. It has a steel handle, by which it would have been hung over the fire. This is attached to the pot with unusual shaped copper fittings, and there is a similar fitting which attaches the loop handle to the lid. The pot measures 24cm. diameter by 20.5cm. high. Overall, including the handles, it is 30cm. wide by 21.5cm. high. It is in excellent condition but the tinning, to the interior, is worn, so now it is purely for decorative purpose.
