A small, oval, 19th century, French copper skimmer. This type of skimmer was often used for skimming preserves but they were also for general kitchen use. This is a small example but it is made from a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. It has a turned end, so that it can hang, and this resembles the end of a shepherd’s crook. It is in excellent condition.
