Code: L23856
An unusual, late 19th century, copper coffee pot. There is a filter in the top section of this so ground coffee would be placed in the top and boiled water poured over it. It would sit on the stove, for the coffee to keep hot whilst filtering through. It is made from a substantial gauge of copper, has castellated seams around the base and up the sides, and it dates from c.1890. The handles are a simple strap form, there is a brass finial to the lid and a hinged cover over the end of the spout. Unfortunately the interior of the pot is no longer in good enough condition for the piece to be used as there is some rust on the steel filter. There is minor denting to the copper but it is an attractive, decorative item.
