An unusual shaped, French copper cooking pot and cover. This piece has two, tubular steel handles to the side and a flat, steel, strap handle to the lid. Originally it would have been made for cooking and would probably have been used on an open fire. The base is now slightly convex, and we have not had it re-tinned, so it is now for decorative use and could no longer be used for cooking. It is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seems around the base and up the side. It dates from c.1850. There is very minor denting, from use, but other than that it is in very good condition.
