A lovely, decorative, coopered jug. This is made, in the same way as a barrel, from slats of wood which are bound together by bands of copper. It was probably made for use in a cider house or tavern and it dates from c.1880. Due to its’ age the wooden slats have shrunk, just very slightly, so it would no longer hold water. There is some denting to the hollow copper handle but other than this it is in very good condition.
